How the AI Citation Checker works

What does “Cited” mean?

“Cited” means the AI response includes a source link to a page on your website. The position number shows where your page appears in the returned source list.

What does “Named, not linked” mean?

The answer mentions your brand or domain, but it does not include a link to your website in the returned sources.

Why can results change between checks?

AI answers and search sources can change over time. Treat each run as a snapshot and compare repeated checks over several weeks for a more useful view.

How can I improve my chances of being cited?

Create useful pages that answer specific questions clearly, use descriptive headings, and include accurate details such as services, locations, prices and timings where relevant.

Are the results the same as what users see in AI apps?

Not always. This tool queries available developer APIs with search enabled where supported. Consumer apps may behave differently, and results can vary by location, model and time.
